Miami Shores is a beautiful village, that was developed with an Italian, Mediterranean themed aesthetic back in the 1920's and 1930's by the Shoreland Company. The dominant styles on the single family homes in the area are mainly Mediterranean Revival, Spanish, with some Med-Deco, and Florida Ranch that came in the 1950's and 1960's. Miami Shores has a historic preservation board that exists to preserve the beauty and clean nature. Strict covenants are maintained to maintain the integrity of the homes and neighborhoods within the Village.
In addition, the area boasts the Miami Shores Country Club & Golf Course with memberships for golf, tennis and social, as well as various parks and recreation centers.
Miami Shores has easy shopping options in the area, with Home Depot, Whole Foods, LA Fitness and other conveniences located right on Biscayne Boulevard. The Miami Modernism District (Mimo District) is located on Biscayne Boulevard just South of Miami Shores, from 50th Street to 77th Street. The area is well known for it’s Mimo architecture, dominant from the 1950’s through the 1960’s and preserved in this area. The area is popular with amazing Mimo and Midcentury Modern buildings, bustling restaurants, and lounges. The area is also host to Farmer’s markets and other events.
Dining & Shopping
Downtown Miami Shores, along North East 2nd Avenue has a few stores and restaurants. Most of the shopping and dining options are right on Biscayne Boulevard, heading north of Miami Shores. Aventura Mall and Aventura Commons are just 15-20 minutes away. Aventura Mall is a popular shopping destination and has expanded year after year. There are a number of restaurants, luxury shopping options, a movie theater, and a towering slide. There are also several shopping centers with super markets, big box retailers, and other necessities on Biscayne Boulevard to fulfill all of your needs and desires.
Parks & Recreation
Miami Shores Country Club offers plenty of recreation. There are memberships for Golf, Tennis, and Social. There are also special discounts for Miami Shores residents. The Club is very scenic and hosts weddings and events. Miami Shores Recreation Complex is a great place for sports like soccer, or for kids.

The proximity of Miami Shores to Downtown Miami gives access to an amazing amount of arts and culture. Perez Art Museum and Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science are about 20 minutes away. The Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts hosts the Florida Grand Opera and Miami City Ballet and showcases many Broadway and theater shows for all to enjoy. The Miami Design District, only 15 minutes away, frequently hosts events with performers, musicians, and fun for everyone.
